HEC Paris in Qatar Launches Bilingual Guidebook for Entrepreneurs

Doha, Qatar – October 1, 2024: HEC Paris in Qatar, a globally renowned business school, has launched the bilingual edition of ‘Qatar’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: The Founder’s Guidebook,’ during an exclusive event in Doha. This essential publication serves as a comprehensive resource for entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers navigating Qatar’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

The guidebook, authored by Dr. Allan Villegas-Mateos, Senior Research Fellow and Entrepreneur in Residence at HEC Paris in Qatar, is the result of over three years of extensive research. It offers valuable insights and strategies for all stages of the entrepreneurial journey, from ideation and startup processes to scaling and securing funding. 

Designed to support Qatar’s ambitious economic diversification goals, the guide provides practical tools and frameworks for aspiring entrepreneurs to successfully navigate the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.  It includes detailed guidance on accessing resources, identifying opportunities and overcoming common challenges faced by founders. 

“This guidebook is the product of a collaborative effort across Qatar’s entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Dr. Allan Villegas-Mateos. “Our mission is to simplify access to key resources and provide entrepreneurs with a clear roadmap to success, empowering them to contribute to Qatar’s economic diversification.”

The launch event, hosted at Qatar Foundation’s Multaqa Student Centre in Education City, featured a panel discussion titled ‘The Future of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.’ Distinguished guests attended, and Dean Pablo Martin de Holan, of HEC Paris in Qatar delivered opening remarks, reaffirming the business school’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Dean Pablo Martin de Holan remarked: “The guidebook is a result of extensive research and collaboration with key stakeholders across Qatar’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. It reflects our alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and underscores the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and innovation. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Allan Villegas and all contributors for their invaluable efforts in shaping this essential resource.”

The event also featured the presentation of the latest Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) report, a collaboration between Qatar Foundation’s partner universities and Qatar University. The GUESSS report provides key insights into the entrepreneurial education landscape and highlights emerging talent among young entrepreneurs.

HEC Paris in Qatar will continue its efforts to support Qatar’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by participating in the upcoming ‘QF HiEd Entrepreneurship and Innovation Summit’, further reinforcing its role in fostering entrepreneurial development and innovation in Qatar and the wider Gulf region.
