The healthcare sector is transforming rapidly, opening significant opportunities for leaders who can navigate its managerial and policy complexities. This specialization builds the strategic insight and skills to drive excellence and impact across the health landscape.

About the Specialization

Driving Excellence in Healthcare is designed for high-potential leaders — both clinical and non-clinical — who want a systems-level understanding of the health sector. It is especially valuable for professionals in healthcare delivery (physicians, nurse executives, healthcare administrators), senior policymakers, and executives from insurance, pharmaceutical, and medical-device organizations. Motivated professionals from other industries considering a move into healthcare leadership will also find it a demanding and rewarding entry point. The specialization is delivered across two five-day sessions, in New York City (at Weill Cornell Medicine) and Doha.

The New York City session examines how health systems are structured, compares systems internationally, and looks at how policy shapes care delivery. Participants explore value-based care — financing mechanisms, provider payment models, and quality improvement — alongside cost-effectiveness analysis for medical products and management of the innovation R&D pipeline. It also takes a forward-looking view of healthcare's future, with a focus on artificial intelligence and advances in diagnosis and treatment, enriched by NYC's health ecosystem of care providers, startups, and global pharma and med-tech R&D.

The Doha session shifts toward strategic leadership and driving change. Participants consider what patient-centric transformation means for both care services and medical-product innovation, and tackle the leadership and operational challenges of designing and implementing change that improves outcomes. The session also explores technological innovation in modern healthcare — digital transformation and disruptive business models — informed by global case studies and close access to leading healthcare and policy institutions across the region.
