HEC Paris in Qatar Continues to Shape the Future of Business: 78 New Graduates Honored at Qatar Foundation Convocation

QF-Convocation

Doha, Qatar – May 10, 2023: HEC Paris in Qatar, a world-leading executive education provider, recently celebrated the achievements of its 2023 Executive MBA (EMBA) and Specialized Master’s degree in Strategic Business Unit Management (SBUM) program graduates, during a convocation ceremony organized by Qatar Foundation for its partner universities at the Qatar National Convention Center.

A total of 78 graduates of Qatar-based programs were honored, with 44 being Qatari and 38 of them women. More than half of the locally based program participants are Qatari, which demonstrates how HEC Paris is contributing to building the national talent that will help drive the QNV2030. Almost half of the graduates are women. This reflects an important effort to develop female talent to bridge the gender gap, which is essential for supporting innovation.

Dr. Pablo Martin de Holan, Dean of HEC Paris in Qatar, congratulated the graduates and stated: “Our graduates' dedication and hard work have equipped them with valuable skills, knowledge, and networks to become better professionals, and better persons as well. Their commitment to lifelong learning will benefit not only themselves but also their organizations and communities and we know they will use that knowledge responsibly.”

The Dean added that HEC Paris programs aim to tackle relevant issues for national and regional growth. He added: “Their journey was fraught with disruptions, some natural and some human-made.  To navigate these changes, it is essential to embrace technology in the future just like they did in the recent past with the pandemic and utilize it to help others and make a positive impact.  With great responsibilities comes great accountability, and we are confident our graduates will lead ethically and will help build a better and more sustainable world for all as they are already doing in their jobs.”

The graduates were unanimous in their appreciation of the programs and the confidence HEC Paris in Qatar had nurtured. 2023 EMBA class graduate Leena Nayyar said a highlight of the program had been the diversity of participants. “Through interaction with fellow graduates from diverse career disciplines, I have gained deeper insights into their work and goals and how they can successfully interact with my own. We all leave this program with stronger leadership skills, which can only bode well for the future.”

Ahad Alenazi, a 2023 SBUM graduate, explained that the program had equipped her with valuable knowledge and skills, which she is now eager to share with her colleagues to drive greater economic success. “Participating in this program has broadened my perspective and introduced me to novel approaches to problem-solving, strategic planning, and overcoming obstacles. I am eager to share the knowledge I have acquired and encourage others to pursue lifelong learning as a critical component of effective management in today's rapidly evolving business and organizational landscape.”

All graduates will be invited to attend the June graduation ceremony at HEC Paris' main campus in the French capital, where they will join participants from all HEC Paris graduating classes.

HEC Paris has been delivering impact and excellence in Qatar and the wider GCC for over a decade, and since joining Qatar Foundation in 2010, it has graduated more than 900 EMBA and SBUM program participants.
