Women of Impact: Balancing Motherhood and an EMBA – My Journey at HEC Paris in Qatar

rebecca
Starting an Executive MBA (EMBA) at HEC Paris in Qatar felt like one of the biggest challenges I’d ever faced.  My son was only two months old when the program began, and I questioned whether I could manage the demands of both motherhood and an EMBA.

An event organized by HEC Paris, the “Moms Roundtable,” became a turning point for me. Hearing the stories of other mothers who had successfully balanced these roles gave me the courage to take a step forward. After discussing my concerns with the team in Qatar, I discovered they provided essential resources for mothers, including dedicated spaces for women. This reassurance empowered me to take the leap.

In those early days, I brought my son and husband along for the first module. With my family support, I was able to stay focused on my studies, while remaining present for my child. My classmates and faculty were incredibly supportive, creating an environment where I felt understood and encouraged to succeed.

This experience taught me that, with the right support and determination, it’s possible to grow both personally and professionally. The EMBA is already shaping me into a better leader, and I’ve realized that the hardest challenges often lead to the most rewarding growth.

To any mothers considering an EMBA or a big career move: There may never be a “perfect” time, but with commitment and the right environment, you can make it work. HEC Paris in Qatar has given me the confidence to continue pushing boundaries, and I look forward to where this journey will take me next.

If I can do it—so can you. Don’t wait. Take the leap. You’ll find your way.
