HEC Paris Masterclass identifies Resilience as 2022 Leadership asset

HEC Paris, the world’s number one ranked Executive MBA school, hosted a masterclass designed to identify resilience as the key success leadership asset for 2022.

The Masterclass, entitled ‘Resilient Leadership – your asset for 2022’ was held at HEC Paris new campus in Msheireb for HEC Paris Alumni, and was conducted by Dr. Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj, an Associate Professor at HEC Paris in Qatar and expert in innovation, leadership and diversity.

In this session, Dr. Janjuha-Jivraj discussed the varying qualities of female leadership and how resilience can be developed and maintained during periods of high performance and ongoing uncertainty.

Resilience is one of the most important attributes for leaders and for women, and a particularly important skill to develop in handling turbulence at work and maintaining career progression,” explained Dr. Janjuha-Jivraj. She added: “The power of resilience has been proven among individuals and organizations that have successfully navigated the changing business and social landscapes of the Covid 19 pandemic”.

Masterclass attendees said the session has altered their understanding of resilience and motivated them to nurture its development within their own workplaces and lives. “I think many people, myself included, had believed resilience was an inherited personality trait and that it was within an individual’s DNA,” explained Aysha Khalifa Al Romaihi, HEC Paris Alumni. “Dr. Shaheena has shown us that in fact this valuable trait can be developed and even maintained and is not just an individual asset but can be applied to ensure it becomes a prime driving factor within a successful corporate culture. This was a timely masterclass as industries and economies reassess their strategies for a post-pandemic world.”

Dr. Shaheena is an award-winning author with titles such as ‘Championing Women Leaders’, ’succession in Asian Family Firms’, and ‘Futureproof Your Career.’
